About NMC San Diego, CA
Also known as Bob Wilson Naval Hospital, Naval Medical Center San Diego is located in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. The center's mission is provide medical care to not only operational forces and their families, but to veterans as well.
Balboa Park served as a military hospital during World War I, and was later the location of a newly-constructed Naval hospital that opened in 1925. However, the hospital in operation today was officially opened in 1988.
Today, the hospital has medical mobilization teams that deploy around the world. The hospital also serves as a major training facility and research center. It is also affiliated with multiple San Diego area hospitals, including the University of California, San Diego, Children's Hospital and Health Center, and Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation.
