About NAS Pensacola, FL
The Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida is located on the northern Gulf Coast of Florida in Escambia County. NAS Pensacola, commanded by the United States Navy, was founded in 1913. It is the primary training base for Marine, Navy, and Coast Guard pilots. The station's Forrest Sherman Field is the advanced training ground for the majority of Naval Flight Officers, and it has the honor of being the home field of the famous Blue Angels.
Over 16,000 military personnel and 7,400 civilians work at NAS Pensacola. The number of flight students graduating yearly hit the 60,000 mark and make the base one of the largest aviation training operations in the Navy.
The deep water port of the harbor supported the establishment of a busy Navy Yard in the 1800s, and continues to enhance modern operations. The Naval Air Station and the city of Pensacola continue to make history together.
