MacDill AFB is located a few miles south of Tampa, Florida. The base was built and established in 1939 with the base's completion coming in 1941 and housed several air and bombardment units over the course of the Second World War.
MacDill AFB, as the name would imply, is run by the United States Air Force and at the moment, hosts 2,692 people living in the immediate area.
This facility is responsible for being the garrison for multiple known wings and divisions, most notably the 6th Air Mobility Wing. The first flying operations began in 1941 and charged with defending the Tampa Bay area. The base also held Strategic Air Commands and Bombardment units over this course of time and was a source of deployment during World War II and over the course of the Cold War.
