This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position.

Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.

In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions.

As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay.

Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

THIS IS A 180-DAY SEMI-ANNUAL REGISTER THAT IS USED TO FILL ART AIRCRAFT MECHANIC HELPER WG-05 VACANCIES WITH PROMOTION POTENTIAL TO WG-10 AT AFRC LOCATIONS FOR THE PERIOD 1 FEB 2018 THROUGH 31 JUL 2018.

THE NEXT ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE POSTED THE FIRST WEEK IN AUG 2018.

THE BEGINNING AND ENDING SALARIES MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION OF THE POSITION.

The first cut-off for this announcement is two (2) weeks from the opening date of this announcement.

After the first cut off, the cut-off will be the 25th of each month.

Therefore, if we receive your application by midnight on the 25th of the month, you are eligible to go on the register the following month.

SOME POSITIONS COVERED MAY OR MAY NOT BE OBLIGATED.

THEREFORE, THE SELECTEE MAY BE DISPLACED BY REASSIGNMENT OR REDUCTION IN FORCE PROCEDURES AT A LATER TIME SHOULD THE PREVIOUS INCUMBENT EXERCISE HIS/HER REEMPLOYMENT RIGHTS.

Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve.

Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

However, you must have experience and/or training (military or civilian, paid or unpaid) of sufficient scope and quality to be able to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

You must show that you have the experience as identified in the Job Elements listed below as they relate to the position for which you are applying.

Since your rating will be based upon the information you supply in your application (resume), you should be as detailed as possible and use the following Job Elements as a guide to assist you in identifying your relevant work experience.

ELEMENT A: Reliability and Dependability (Screen-Out) -- Tell about experience you have had that shows you would be a reliable and dependable worker.

ELEMENT B: Shop Aptitude and Interest -- Demonstrate you possess the aptitude and interest for learning the theories and practices of the trade.

ELEMENT C: Ability to Follow Directions in a Shop -- Give examples of your experience (work or non-work related) in which you had to follow directions in a mechanical/maintenance shop environment.

Element D: Dexterity and Safety -- Give examples of work situations in which you had to apply safety procedures.

ELEMENT E: Ability to Work as a Member of a Team -- Give examples of your experience (work or non-work related) in which you worked closely with others.

Include any completion of training, vocational, trade or related schools in a mechanical/maintenance field.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
