The purpose of this position is to support the IT Security program for the Library of Congress.

The Incumbent of this position provides authoritative guidance for the secure development and operation of IT systems for the Library of Congress.

The IT security program requires the effective development of policies, procedures and strategies to ensure the optimum integration of operating systems, IT policies and guidelines, systems analysis, and contractor evaluation and monitoring to ensure the security of vital computer systems and resources.

The incumbent provides expert IT security support for the effective performance of the Information Security Program managed within the Office of the Chief Information Officer.This position is located in IT Security, Deputy Chief Information Officer, Office of the Chief Information Officer.The position description number for this position is 171987.The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.Ability to perform IT research and analysis.**Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, methods, and tools.**Ability to apply project management methodologies and techniques to manage complex IT projects.Ability to create IT policies and guidelines.Ability to interact collaboratively with others.Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
