After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years).

Applicants can be selected at either the GS-09 or GS-11 level.

The target grade of this position is GS-12.

To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must: Be a U.S. Citizen Successfully complete all the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program as defined in the Agency Participant Agreement.

Demonstrate successful job performance.

Who May Apply: Positions are open to: Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.

Short-term training programs (e.g. several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.

Current students who will graduate no later than 6 months.

Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty.

Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years after degree or certificate completion.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level: You may qualify based on specialized experience, education OR a combination of education and experience.

To qualify based on experience, you must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service performing at least 2 out of the 3 following duties: Specialized Experience is defined as: 1) reviewing IT security threats for indication of potential intrusion OR 2) performing Cyber forensic analysis, digital evidence preservation, and application vulnerabilities and exploitation OR 3) monitoring security events and intrusion logs.

All experience areas shall additionally demonstrate each of the following competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication 4) Problem Solving.

OR Must have a Master's or equivalent degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in one of the following areas of study: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR Combination of education and experience-Less than one year of experience as described in the specialized experience statement for the GS-09 may be combined with more than one year but less than two years of graduate education as described above.

To qualify at the GS-11 grade level: To qualify based on experience, you must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service performing ALL of the following duties: Specialized Experience is defined as: 1) reviewing IT security threats for indication of potential intrusion AND 2) performing Cyber forensic analysis, digital evidence preservation, and application vulnerabilities and exploitation AND 3) monitoring security events and intrusion logs.

All experience areas shall additionally demonstrate each of the following competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication 4) Problem Solving.

OR Must have 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in one of the same areas listed above for the GS-09 education.

OR Combination of education and experience -- Less than 1 year of specialized experience may be combined with more than 2 years but less than 3 years of graduate education described above.
