Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: This position has been identified as a developmental position for the purpose of providing employment opportunities to applicants not meeting all the required criteria at the full performance level.
Training will be provided to those selectees, who will be eligible for promotion as they gain the skills for the position.
Must be skilled in handling various kitchen cutlery and equipment, from knives to steamers, ovens, grills and fryers.
Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for plain or fancy salads and other cooked dishes and have a working knowledge of measurements.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical activities include, but are not limited to standing, walking, bending, turning, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and light lifting.
Some activities are prolonged in nature.
The employee will at all times lift up to 45 pounds unassisted, heavier items are with assistance.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, due to steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing and walk-in refrigerators/freezers.
Working area is subject to noise.
The employee is subject to minor cuts, bruises and burns.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be 18 years of age or older.
As a condition of employment, the employee must be able to obtain a Health Card prior to first day if work.
Afterwards, must be able to successfully pass a Food Handles Sanitation course, thereafter to be updated and maintained annually.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
