The selectee for this position will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN for the DEPARTMENT OF THENAVY.

THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT.

The Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions as shortage positions and recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions.

This announcement is open to accept resumes from candidates interested in helping the Department of the Navy meet our mission requirements for the acquisition of systems, equipment and facilities.

This public notice announcement is for anticipated vacancies to be filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for acquisition positions located at Department of Navy installations identified in this public notice.

Positions may be filled as permanent, term, or temporary with a full-time or part-time work schedule.

Pay will vary by geographic location.

There may or may not be actual/projected vacancies at the time you submit your application.

As such, Notices of Results (NORs) may or may not be sent to applicants who apply to this announcement.

Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed and in equivalent pay systems (e.g., NH, NJ, NK, etc.).

Selectees may be appointed to a position with promotion potential (e.g. selected at the GS-5 grade with potential to the GS-11).

If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management.

Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

Information on Temporary and Term Appointments: Temporary appointments may be extended up to 3 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Temporary actions taken under this announcement may be made permanent without further competition.

Term appointments may be extended up to 6 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Additionally, selectees may be noncompetitively converted to permanent career-conditional or career appointments under specific conditions.

Temporary or term positions may be terminated at any time before the established not-to-exceed date.

GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate that you have successfully completed a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree OR you have at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with engineering technician services during the design, construction, testing or overhaul of systems or components OR you have a combination of education and experience that equates to one year of experience.

GS-06: Your resume must also demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector gathering data assisting with the development of plans, specifications or estimates during the design, construction, testing or overhaul of systems or components.

GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector gathering data assisting with the development of plans, specifications or estimates during the design, construction, testing or overhaul of systems or components.

GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing plans, specifications and estimates during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing plans, specifications and estimates during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-10: Your resume must also demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector investigating problems arising during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector investigating problems arising during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing engineering technician services to analyze technical problems arising during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-13: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and applying methods and techniques to resolve technical problems arising during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-14: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector approving methods and techniques used in resolving technical problems arising during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.

GS-15: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing technical projects during the design, construction, testing, maintenance or overhaul of systems and components.
