This position is located in the Information Technology Security Staff (ITSS) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
The incumbent of this position serves as a Smithsonian IT Security Specialist and is a member of the IT Security team.
As such, the incumbent performs duties and activities necessary to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the Institution's data, automated information systems (AISs), and the supporting information technology infrastructure.
Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.
For this position Specialized experience is defined as experience serving as a senior IT Security Specialist for an enterprise-level organization (with at least 3000 IT end-users).
This experience includes maintaining and supporting enterprise security technologies, leading security projects, and managing IT Security incidents for the organization.Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience.
