As an IT Specialist you will provide advice in the IT area to clients in two or more of the following IT specialties: information technology infrastructure services, network services, systems analysis, systems integration, systems administration, applications software/hardware, customer support and/or security.The position is located in The General Services Administration, Federal Acquisition Service, Information Technology Category, Office of IT Services.

GSA's Office of Information Technology Category (ITC) provides access to private sector IT & telecommunications solutions for federal, state & local government agencies.

ITC works with federal agencies, OMB, & industry to create common solutions for IT services, hardware, software, telecommunications, cyber security, & identity management.

98% of federal agencies use ITC solutions.

ITC works with the Office of Federal Procurement Policy & the Office of the Federal Chief Information Office to develop & implement acquisition and technology initiatives such as strategic sourcing, category management, cloud, cyber, enterprise licensing agreements for software, desktop configurations & data center optimization.

ITC plays a unique role in supporting agencies with acquisition & technical expertise to make better buying decisions, reduce duplication & improve mission results.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $79,720.00 per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service as described below:IT SPECIALIST COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:Attention to Detail - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant keeps abreast of latest technology, information, research, etc., to maintain knowledge in field of expertise (for example, reads trade journals, participates in professional/technical associations, maintains credentials).Customer Service - skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant promotes or develops and maintains good working relationships with key individuals or groups.Oral Communication - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant serves on panels, committees, or task forces as a representative for the organization on technical or professional issues.Problem Solving - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant monitors current trends or events (for example, technological, economic, political, social, educational, or employment trends or events) and applies the information as appropriate.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Specialized experience is experience assisting higher level specialists on projects which involve marketing agency services, identifying customer information technology (IT) requirements, and/or acquiring IT commodities and/or support services.

This experience must include assisting with evaluation and analysis of IT systems, procedures and requirements and researching developments and trends in IT concepts and technology.
