Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.

In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ART positions.

As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay.

Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.THIS ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL UPCOMING LIKE POSITIONS DESCRIBED HEREIN.

CERTIFICATES MAY BE ESTABLISHED AND USED FOR 90 DAYS AFTER THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve.

Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.The Government's most important asset is its people.

You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or qualifying pay band under other pay systems in the Federal service that has given you particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Experience which provides a thorough knowledge of planning, coordinating, and evaluating a logistics management program.  (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).The assessment questionnaire is designed to measure your ability in the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): (1) Knowledge of logistics principles, practices, policies and data systems in order to analyze, validate and coordinate (both qualitatively and quantitatively) the requirements of the functional area.

(2) Knowledge of logistics plans for mobility, deployment, contingency and related readiness programs.  (3) Knowledge of and skill in applying conventional methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate factual information concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of logistics processes.

(4) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., in a relevant field of study (e.g., Logistics Management, History, Public Administration, any Science degree, Mathematics, Business).  Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary to perform the duties of the position.  If qualifying based on education, a legible copy of your college transcripts identifying Institution name and location, type of degree awarded and date conferred is required.
