About Little Creek-Fort Story, VA
Located in Fort Story, Virginia, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek is operated by the United States Navy. The base is home to and trains United States Expeditionary Forces. It is the merger of Fort Story and Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek.
Established in 1914, Fort Story is officially named Joint Expeditionary Base East.During the Second World War Fort Story became a hospital, then a training ground for amphibious vehicles. The Naval Amphibious Base was established in 1942, where it served as a training base for amphibious vehicles. It continues to support amphibious vehicle training and deployment for all branches of the armed services.
To support its population, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek boasts numerous services. It has deployed forces support, family readiness, and a Navy Wounded Warrior Safe Harbor Program. The base also offers recreational activities such as fitness and sports centers, movies, libraries, golf, bowling and youth centers.
