Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL), located in New Jersey, is the only joint base with Air Force, Army and Navy installations.

It was established when, in 2005, the U.S. Government announced the merging of three separate military bases, McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix and Naval Air Station Lakehurst.

Each installation serves its own branch, but all three share resources and capabilities.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is the second-largest employer in New Jersey and generates $6.9 billion in revenue for the local economy.

The base employs an estimated 65,500 people, directly or indirectly.

Of note, NAS Lakehurst, one component of the base, is most famous as the site of the Hindenburg disaster.

The 87th Air Base Wing is the host wing at JBMDL.

The base is home to more than 80 mission partners, such as active and reserve units, tenants and Department of Defense units.
