Military Base Jobs
Cheyenne Mountain AFB
Cheyenne Mountain, located southwest of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the location for a massive underground Air Force Station that serves as the operations center for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The facility, first envisioned in 1956 at the height of the Cold War, took several years to build, becoming fully operational in 1967.
It is owned and operated by the Air Force Space Command.
The facility, where no more than 200 military personnel live and work, exists to provide early warnings of intercontinental ballistic missile and air attacks on the U.S. and Canada.
Military personnel are assigned there from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
Some of NORAD's crew operations and its headquarters have been moved to nearby Peterson Air Force Base.
