Camp Pendleton

Camp Pendleton is operated by the U.S. Marine Corps and is located in San Diego.

It is an important base of the Marine Corps.

Camp Pendleton was built in March 1942 and has been in use ever since September 1942.

Camp Pendleton was established to train Marines for service in World War II and became a permanent installation in 1946.

It is home to many Operating Force units, but is perhaps best known as the home of the I Marine Expeditionary Force, which is the largest unit of its kind in the Fleet Marine Force and is nicknamed the "Warfighting MEF" for its consistent contribution to armed conflicts.

Built on pristine land and still not far from the haunts of Southern California, the base even includes breeding habitat for different animals as well as habitat for rare mammals and specimens as well as non-native bison.
