About Hunter AFB, GA
Hunter AFB, known as Hunter Army Airfield, is a smaller military installation and airfield related in lower status to Fort Stewart, both of which are located in Hinesville, Georgia. Hunter houses a runway more than two miles long and an aircraft parking area more than 350 acres large.
5,000 soldiers, airmen, and coast guardsmen are located on station, as it also hosts the Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, which is equipped with MH-65 Dolphin helicopters crucial to rescue missions in the region.
72,000 square feet of Hunter belong to the Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group Facility and nearby railhead, which work with the runway to provide a safe space for the Third Infantry Division at Fort Stewart to quickly and efficiently deploy soldiers and cargo from that base around the world.
