About Fort Sill, OK
Fort Sill is a U.S. Army post located near Lawton, Oklahoma, about 85 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. This is where all field artillery soldiers and Marines are trained.
Fort Sill is home to the Field Artillery School, the primary training facility for field artillery soldiers and marines worldwide, as well as the Army Air Defense Artillery School and the 75th Fires Brigade and the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade. It is also one of four locations where Army Basic Combat Training takes place.
Of all the Army installations built during the Indian Wars, Fort Sill is the only one that is still active. It has been a part of every major U.S. conflict since it was staked out in 1869. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
