About Fort Derussy, HI
Fort DeRussy is located in Waikiki, Honolulu and run by the United States Army. Largely, Fort DeRussy integrates with the surrounding civilian community, as it is unfenced and pretty much open to public traffic. An important military function that the area serves is as host facility for the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. There is also a Chapel at Fort DeRussy for use as well.
The area was built in 1911 to defend the harbor at Honolulu from being attacked. This rich history includes the use of AH-1 Cobra helicopters.
The reservation is home to the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, which all are welcome to visit. It is also host to the Hale Koa Hotel, which is open to authorized personnel associated with the military.
