About Forbes ANG Base, KS
The Forbes Air National Guard Base is located just south of Topeka, Kansas. It was created in 1942 and continues to be used as a civil-military airport. While the Kansas Air National Guard does some operations on site, the location is mostly used for civilian flights.
When the Forbes Air National Guard Base was founded, it was primarily used by World War II militia. After the war, it was briefly shut down before reopening in 1948. Soon after, it was reopened and used for refueling military air crafts. It became a National Guard base in 1973; however, it also opened it's doors to civilians in the same year. Duel runways keep the civil flights to a designated area of the campus.
Between the Forbes Air National Guard Base and the Topeka Regional Airport, which co-operates the location, over 1,000 employees work in the area. Recent million-dollar renovations to the airport has also created a need for many professionals, including project managers, construction crew, and engineers.
