About Eglin AFB, FL
Located in Okaloosa County, Florida, Eglin AFB is widely acknowledged as being the largest AFB in the United States. The base covers more than 463,000 acres, and parts of it are situated in three different Florida counties.
Eglin AFB is the home base of the Air Force's 96th Test Wing unit. This unit's primary mission is to test and evaluate different types of weapons. Established in 1935, Eglin AFB also provides public passenger airline service. More than 8,500 civilians, and more than 4,000 military personnel are employed at Eglin AFB. More than 8,000 people live on this military base, which features a wealth of scenic forest land and sandy beaches.
In addition to the large main dining facility, there are several other dining establishments located on Eglin AFB, including a snack bar at Eglin's on-base golf course.
