About Dam Neck Annex, VA
Dam Neck Annex is located about five miles south of Virginia Beach, Va. It is near the site of where the first settlers landed in Jamestown. Many battles of the Revolutionary War were fought in this area, as well.
Established in 1941, Dam Neck was first intended to train fleet personnel as an anti-aircraft gunnery range. Today, Dam Neck Annex houses 20 tenant commands focused on Navy training and support activities.
Dam Neck is uniquely situated within 30 minutes of half of NATO command, joint forces and the American fleet. It's also near Naval Air Station Oceana and Army and Air Force commands, allowing it to easily provide testing and training services. In addition, Dam Neck, Newport News shipbuilders and Virginia academic institutions cooperate on research, testing and training activities.
