About Camp Parks, CA
Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, known as Camp Parks, is a United States Army facility located 25 miles away from Oakland in Dublin, California, the second fastest growing city in California. The facility was built in 1943 and has been in use ever since.
Currently, the facility's purpose is to serve as a semi-active mobilization and training center for Reserve personnel to be used in case of national emergency or need such as war or natural disaster. Camp Parks is actually the only local training facility for more than 11,000 Reservists in the San Francisco Bay area.
The base was historically used by troops coming home from the Pacific Theater who needed medical treatment, military training, and other organizational support. However, the area has not been in constant use by the military, having been given to local governments at times for use as a jail.
