Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, located in Clay County and near Starke, Florida, serves as a training base and primary military reservation for the Florida Army National Guard and the Florida Air National Guard. Camp Blanding is also a training center for Army and Naval ROTC units. Camp Blanding enjoys a rich history of continuous use since its erection in 1940.

The camp's location is thanks to the United States Navy, which scouted the site and initially utilized it as a Naval Air Station for its prized nearness to the banks of the St. John's River, Jacksonville. The National Guard took over the location in 1939 and recommended its namesake, Lieutenant General Alfred H. Blanding, who commanded the 2nd Florida Infantry in the Mexican Border Service from 1916 to 1917.

Camp Blanding was as an active duty training center for the United States Army during World War II. The camp also housed German POWs and was a temporary holding center for Italian, Japanese and German immigrants. Official resources don't supply Camp Blanding's current population, but nearby Starke has a population of about 5,500.
