About Camp Beauregard, LA
Camp Beauregard is controlled by the United States Army and is located primarily in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. It is operated by the Louisiana National Guard and serves as one of their main training areas.
The base has its beginning in 1917 when the then-War Department green lighted the construction of around thirty camps in order to train troops for World War I. Camp Beauregard served as training grounds for many troops, and was again repurposed for this in 1940 to train troops for World War II. Training exercises in the area that prepared almost 500,000 men for battle in World War II included Camp Beauregard.
In 1993, Camp Beauregard became Louisiana's first National Guard Youth Challenge Program site. Over 8,100 candidates have graduated from this program in the 23 years since.
