About Andersen AFB, GU
Andersen AFB is operated by the United States Air Force near Agafo Gumas in Guam. The base is jointly commanded with the Naval Base in Guam. Andersen AFB is one of only four bomber forward operating locations in the United States Air Force, and provides forward support to bomber crews deploying to Europe and also to Southwest Asia and the Pacific.
The 36th Wing, host to Andersen AFB, is a non-flying wing whose mission is largely to provide support to air and space forces deployed in the region. It also supports tenant units assigned to the base.
The base, however small, is critical in the Asia-Pacific region. Its position in Guam, which is relatively close to a naval bombing range and whose airspace is almost completely unrestricted, makes it ideal for training.
